I wanted to ask if there are any Independent political group meet-ups around Ashland? I'm fed up with both Republicans and Democrats.

If not, maybe it's time to form one?

    Depends on what you're into.
I'm running for Mayor. We need all the help we can get.
    What's your story?

      Hey Peter,

I am just fed up with Republicans and Democrats and wanted to meet up with local Independents for discussion. I'm pretty disappointed with the Presidential selection. I'm not interested in McCain & I have a lot of reservations in Obama. I'd prefer an Independent President (even though the reality of that is not likely).

Are you seriously running for Mayor? As an Ind. or what? Do you have a website for your campaign?

If there's not one already, lets create a political discussion meet up for Ashland. We can start out at one of the local pubs or restaurants in the down town area and pick a night & time to have weekly meet ups. We can advertise it in all the local papers to get more locals Ashlanders involved.

There is a local Green Party group that meets at the Library occasionally.

If you are interested I can find the contact name and e-mail I have filed somewhere.

          • With the US Presidential election just a couple weeks away - I just wanted to post a reminder to get involved in separation of church and state issues by being informed on what's going on.

One way to be informed immediately about issues as they're happening right now is by signing up for the Action Alerts by e-mail. Here are the some in no particular order that I highly recommend signing up for and considering getting a membership:

Americans United for Separation of Church and State

            Freedom From Religion Foundation

"... both Senators McCain and Obama have vowed to continue President Bush's White House Office of Faith-based and Community Initiatives. Obama has even promised to expand it. However, this program has become a patronage mill for political allies. There is little effort to ensure that taxpayer subsidized programs do not involve proselytizing, and religious discrimination in hiring is widespread. In spite of Obama's pledge to clean up this unconstitutional mess, it's unlikely anyone can salvage a corrupt, multi-billion dollar government bureaucracy that stretches across twelve federal agencies. Further, this program not only deprives effective secular organizations of needed funds for social services, it actually privileges religious groups by giving them a special status and special access to federal dollars. The candidates should tell us why they are unwilling to shut down this corrupt, discriminatory program."

              Barack Hussein Obama:
Consensus Illusions Versus Dangerous Documented History

              by James DeMeo, Ph.D.

"The articles below, and the documentary weblinks, raise serious questions about the favorite candidate for US President, Barack Hussein Obama. I assembled this material only after observing what a terrible job the mainstream news media (MSM) was doing in regards to investigating the background and activities of Obama. I believe this is due to a shared radical-left and Islamist agenda on the part of this same news media and much of the academic world, something which appeared in American society increasingly after around 1960, intensifying as the USA and its allies were seriously confronted with a growing and well-funded Islamic threat.

In this discussion, I will steer clear of policy matters, like health care, economy and so on. I have my own opinions on that, but the issues presented here are more substantial, having to do with lies, dirty-tricks and deception by Obama and his cadres of supporters, and by those who are manipulating his candidacy, and his person, from behind the scenes. Personally I feel Hillary Clinton would have been the better candidate for the Democratic Party, and while like McCain-Palin, she is a flawed character, I do believe in the main there is no larger hidden agenda with any of the other candidates, as what is now documented with Obama....."

                Hey Rocky,

I literally don't think I've checked this list since I last posted....
Been busy. I was seriously running for mayor and have since withdrawn and gave my support to another candidate.
You can check out my website, petergross.net for the full story.
Needless to say, I was more focused on the outside world over the cyber one.

                Hope to see you around,
                PG
